Joseph Hilton serves as Executive Managing Director at MHP Real Estate Services. Prior to joining MHP Mr. Hilton was the Team Leader of Grubb & Ellis’ China Practice Group. In that capacity, he was responsible for creating relationships and assisting Chinese companies and investors with real estate interests in the United States as well as U.S. companies and investors with real estate interests in China.
Mr. Hilton has more than 30 years of commercial real estate experience. Before joining Grubb & Ellis, he was a senior vice president at CB Richard Ellis, owner and Chief Executive Officer of Joseph Hilton Associates and Hilton Development Corporation and a senior vice president and a top producer at Cushman & Wakefield.
As tenant representative, Mr. Hilton has been personally responsible for some of the largest leases in the New York metropolitan area, including Paine Webber’s 1 million-square-foot transaction at Lincoln Harbor in New Jersey and Prudential Securities’ 1 million-square-foot lease at One New York Plaza in Manhattan. Mr. Hilton represented Institutional Investor in its 113,000-square-foot lease in Manhattan for its United States headquarters. In addition, he acted as consultant to Alitalia for its North American headquarters and as broker for Wachovia Securities NY’s regional headquarters. Mr. Hilton recently represented China Merchant’s Bank and China Construction Bank for their new branch office facilities in Manhattan as well as China Daily and China State Grid for their U.S. offices.
Mr. Hilton began his professional career at the New York City law firm of Davis Hardy & Schenck, where he specialized in real estate law. After Davies Hardy & Schenck and prior to joining Cushman & Wakefield, Mr. Hilton was employed with Max Philippson Associates, a New York City-based real estate consultant and developer.
Mr. Hilton received a baccalaureate in arts from Brown University and in law from the University of Virginia.
Mr. Hilton has taught Real Estate Development and Leasing as Adjunct Professor at Fordham University Graduate School of Business. He has been a Trustee of the Real Estate Board of New York, Director of the Fifth Avenue Association and a Director and member of the Executive Committee of Madison Square Boys & Girls Club of New York City.
